Where to use this sign

A fire exit sign shows people the way out when something goes wrong. In the UAE it is normally expected on or above every door that is used as an emergency exit, along escape corridors, at stair entrances and wherever the route to the exit is not obvious. Offices, shops, warehouses, labour accommodation, schools and clinics all rely on them.

Mount the sign above the door at roughly 2 to 2.5 metres from the floor so it stays visible when people crowd in front of it, and repeat it along corridors so one sign is always in view. Where the route changes direction, add a sign that points the way. Keep it clear of shelves, curtains and decorations, and make sure the exit it points to is never locked or blocked.

Print A4 for doors and corridors where people pass within a few metres, and A3 for large halls, showrooms and warehouses. Paper is fine for a temporary layout. For permanent installation choose aluminium, acrylic or photoluminescent material so the sign stays readable in a power cut. Requirements vary by building type and emirate, so confirm them with your civil defence authority or fire consultant.
