Where to use this sign

The first aid sign marks the location of a first aid box, a first aid room or a treatment point. Offices, schools, clinics, shops, factories, labour camps, sports facilities and construction sites all need people to find first aid quickly after a cut, burn, fall or sudden illness. A green sign with a white cross is recognised worldwide and is easy to read even when someone is under stress.

Put the sign directly above or beside the first aid box or room, at eye level, and add direction signs where the box is not visible from the main corridor. Keep the box accessible, never locked in a store room, and check that its contents are complete and in date. List trained first aiders and emergency numbers close to the sign so help is easy to reach.

Print A4 for first aid boxes, offices and corridors, and A3 for large workshops, warehouses and first aid rooms with wide entrances. Paper is fine inside; for kitchens, outdoor sites or humid areas pick laminated or aluminium signs. The number of first aid boxes and trained first aiders you need depends on your premises, staff numbers and activity, so check the relevant UAE requirements and your risk assessment.

Check the exact signage requirements for your building type with the relevant UAE authority or your fire and safety consultant.
